Brooke Winter. Course Coordinator.
Brooke is an expert in traffic law and has been in the industry in various capacities for 27 years. Brooke was previously an investigator in both the NSW and Queensland Police Services. Brooke then became a qualified Police Prosecutor for a number of years and prosecuted in both Metropolitan and Country locations. Brooke has been a defence lawyer since 2006 and specialises in Traffic related matters.
Damien Thomas. Psychologist.
BA (Psych); GradDipPsych; MPsych(Org); MAPS
Damien completed his Masters in Organisational Psychology at Macquarie University in Sydney. He has over 20 years experience as a Psychologist and has specialised in the field of adolescent psychology. Damien has provided consultancy within the education sector, where he has undertaken large-scale projects including sociological research. Damien founded iModality in 2014 following a 13 year career within the national security sector. Damien continues to provide wide ranging consultancy within the security sector, most notably within the field of countering violent extremism (CVE). He has extensive experience working within culturally diverse environments. Damien writes pre-sentence reports for those appearing in the Magistrates, District and Supreme Courts. He has extensive experience in the psychology of driving, and why people commit offences on the road. Damien will discuss the reasons why people make mistakes on our roads, distractions, decision making, and what you can do to make yourself a better driver on the roads.
Allanah Patron. Solicitor – Traffic Law Specialist.
Allanah is an experienced lawyer and practices in the jurisdictions of Queensland, New South Wales and Tasmania. Allanah graduated from Bond University with Honours and specialises in Traffic Law. She has an in depth knowledge and experience of the court system and has represented hundreds of clients who have been charged by the police. Allanah will share with you an understanding of the law, how the court system works, the legal system in general, traffic offending and penalties, and preparations required for appearances in a courtroom.
Pat McDonald. Expert Crash Investigator.
Patrick is a qualified and experienced Crash Investigator who has been involved in the industry for over 22 years. He has attended and investigated more than 500 minor and serious incidents including fatal accidents. Patrick holds a Bachelor of Science and holds accreditation in many specialised courses in car, motorcycle, pedestrian, commercial vehicles and bicycle collisions. Patrick is an accredited Traffic Accident Reconstructionist through The Accreditation Commission for Traffic Accident Reconstruction. Patrick will discuss accident investigation and focus on the “Fatal 5” of road safety – Speeding, Drink/Drug Driving, Seatbelts, Fatigue, Mobile phones/distraction.
